System 10 Composite Doors – leading the way

Nothing instils confidence more than experience and knowledge. The Prime Connection and System 10 Composite Doors have this experience and knowledge within the public sector to supply the products you need. The development of the System 10 Composite Door has been an integral part of Bowater Building Products innovative product development plans for over 12 months and the launch of this new range of Composite Doors continues our commitment to lead the way in the supply of precision engineered Building Products.

System 10 Composite Doors have been developed by The Prime Connection, the fabrication element of Bowater Building Products’ vertically integrated supply chain. The Prime Connection has two locations, one in Minworth, approximately 100 yards from WHS Halo, and one in Coventry where composite doors are manufactured. The modern Coventry location is 73,000 square feet in all and in addition to the manufacture of composite doors the location fabricates windows, primarily for the new build sector.

The benefits of vertical integration have become more apparent in recent years. Customers and clients need to have the assurance that a product does not only look good but that it has been designed with modern methods of construction, with each stage of the process linking to each other. WHS Halo has designed and developed dedicated PVC-U substrate profiles for the System 10 Portacomp composite door concept. These have been drawn on their CAD machine and the profile tools manufactured in WHS’s tool room. The product has been tested in WHS Halo’s laboratory to ensure that design is optimised to meet the rigorous demands of an in situ door being opened and closed. The composite door concept has been rigorously tested at WHS Halo in order to meet the current and appropriate British and European standards.

At each stage of the process the design team have checked that the composite door range can be manufactured, assembled and installed with complete confidence. Experience and resource across WHS Halo have helped; particularly the experience of bonding that has been developed in lamination in recent years. Where appropriate WHS Halo has enlisted the help of its supply chain, suppliers and clients.
